The Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) expands apprenticeship and training programs to increase representation of Black and Latino communities in the clean energy workforce.

The Climate Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program provides training and job-readiness skills to help them land good-paying union jobs in clean energy development.

The program features three Climate Works Hubs across Illinois. The Hubs will partner with community, non-profit and faith-based organizations to:

  • Recruit candidates from underrepresented populations and areas identified as Environmental Justice Communities
  • Ensure candidates complete apprenticeship programs through career prep classes, covering basic workplace readiness skills
  • Provide candidates financial support through the Energy Transition Barrier Reduction Program, which covers upfront cost associated with joining an apprenticeship
